Message from Sr Rae

In the last couple of weeks I have attended two functions in the Wellington Region; the first one was the Blessing of the Retreat House at Cross Creek which is situated 10km out of Featherston and the second one was a seminar organised by the ADD Trust.

In life we are not very often asked to do heroic deeds but kindness is something we can practise every day and often many times in the day.

Since returning to work after the holidays I have spent time reflecting on what is happening around me and what needs to happen in the year ahead.

The Celebration of one hundred years at Island Bay has been a graced moment in time for me, the Sisters who were present and many of the past residents who were children with us, as well as our friends and supporters. Planning the Centenary was a challenge that Sister Annette picked up; she gathered around her a committee of the most bright and enthusiastic people that you could wish for.

At the end of 2006 I was privileged to spend three months at “Marymount” Mercy Centre in Castlehill, Sydney, on sabbatical attending a Spirituality course.
