Mata Mahina Malani makes her Final Vows.
The choir had been practising all week, and were as good as any in the world. The ceremony took about two hours - the Bishop said the mass in Tongan - I am not sure what he had to say, but he made the most of having a captive Congregation. Mass was followed by a Feast: there were little suckling pigs, ham, turkey, vegetables, salads, fruit, even ice cream for desert. At the end of the feasting and dancing you could hardly see where we had been. It was a wonderful celebration and Mata enjoyed every moment of it.
Witnessing the final profession of a Sister gives one cause for hope that there are still young women around who are prepared to make a life commitment.
