St Joseph's Rest Home enlarged
Theresa McGlynn, Manager of St Jospeh's with the Director Kevin Allan and Sr Christina Williams
There was a large gathering at St Joseph's Rest Home and Hospital at Heretaunga on 29 June for the blessing and opening of a new rest home wing comprising twelve rooms and a lounge dining room area. Bishop John Dew was present for the blessing while the former manager, Sr Helen Farrelly DOLC cut the ribbon to the new wing.

St Joseph's was opened in 1932 and a new modern facility was opened on this site in 1992. Included in the furnishings in the rooms opened last week were beds and lockers from the former hospital at Island Bay which closed twelve months ago. There is sure to be a high demand for the wonderful new, tastefully decorated facilities the Sisters of Compassion have opened for Wellington's elderly citizens.
