Conservation Project at Jerusalem
Whilst in Jerusalem in August, members of the Leadership Team took the opportunity to meet with Keith Murray, project manager for the Conservation project of the Convent and Church at Jerusalem and to catch-up “first-hand” on progress with the project. The re-piling of the Church had been completed with all of the rotten piles replaced and the Church has now “re-settled” on to a firmer footing without any damage whatsoever to the building’s structure and original floorboards, which have been refitted.

The fire protection system is now being installed to protect the heritage building from fire. In addition to protecting the inside of the Church, the fire protection system will also have sprinkler heads on the exterior of the building to protect and preserve it from fire.

The floorboards in the Convent building have now been lifted in preparation for the re-piling work, which starts in early October. Once that is completed the fire protection works for the Convent [similar to that for the Church] will start.
