Father Dan Ahern returns to Ireland
Thursday 26 November 2009, Father Dan Ahern, a Columbian priest, celebrated his last Mass for the Residents and Sisters at the Chanel Home of Compassion Chapel, Suva. It was a Mass for the anointing of the sick.
It was an emotional time for Father Dan and the all who had gathered. A lot of tears where shed. He said “When I first came to Fiji, 43 years ago, I stayed here at the Home and Elizabeth was a little girl still crawling on the floor.” He also said that the hardest place for him to say goodbye was the Home. Father Dan has retired to live in his homeland, Ireland. He left Fiji on 30th November.
