Heretaunga Sisters of CompassionHeretaunga – Sisters of Compassion Our motto is Love in Sacrifice, as on our Crest. We live in Community striving to make visible the presence of Christ. We do this by being faithful to our spirit of compassion, faith and trust in Divine Providence. We count prayer, hospitality and availability as high priorities, and endeavour to make all who come to our Community feel welcome. Our activities include: Mass in our Chapel - Residents of the Home and people from around the area also attend Visiting the disabled, elderly and sick in their own homes Offering a listening ear, friendship to the ill and lonely Taking Holy Communion to the sick, elderly and housebound, weekly Visits to Rest Homes, local hospital and private homes Attending funerals, bereavement support to families Help with remedial reading at the local Parish School Involvement in the local Parish, support for various Parish Groups Pregnancy Help Caring for Retired Priests and Brothers Within St Joseph’s Home of Compassion Sisters help with: Relieving duties as Receptionist Visiting the Residents, support for our staff One Sister on the nursing staff Pastoral Care/Mission Co-ordinator – Sr Camillus Fundraising Activities
