Barrytown Beach

Before sunrise
Walking along the black sand
I saw
With ribbon-like strands
Of pale grey grit
Littering the beach
By the out-going tide
The sun
Peeping over the Paparoa Ranges
Kissed the greyness
Giving it the appearance
Of discarded Christmas Decorations
Transforming grit and glory
