TaizéTaizé Prayer - in word, song and silence When1st Friday of each month WhereHome of Compassion Chapel Time7pm - 8pm The group gathers in silence in the chapel. The central piece is a large Taizé cross surrounded by lighted candles. The prayer time is for an hour, beginning at 7.00 pm. The hour of prayer includes the singing of simple repetitive chants, periods of silence, a Scripture reading and prayers of petition. All aspects of the prayer aim to focus on simplicity, to encourage participation and to focus on a theme of reconciliation and peace. People are encouraged to pray, sing and bring their musical instruments to play. The environment is one of being in the presence of God, and some time out from the busy demands of the week. The core group ensures that there is a flow to the service, other people participate as they desire. Socialising and notices are not encouraged and people simply come, pray and go away.
